As part of its mission to promote the principles of human dignity and to support press freedom as a tool for the defense of justice and equality, the Board of Directors of the International Observatory for Documentation of Human Rights Violations issued Administrative Resolution No. (11/2025), by which it approved the model of Certificates of Appreciation and Recognition No. (005) within the official records of the Observatory, and granted honorary certificates to a group of distinguished media and journalistic figures from the Republic of Lebanon, in recognition of their efforts to promote a culture of human rights through responsible and independent journalism.

This decision was adopted during the Board’s session held on November 1, 2025, reaffirming the Observatory’s belief in the essential role of journalism in upholding the values of justice and exposing violations, as well as its commitment to supporting free voices that courageously convey the truth without discrimination or distortion.

The Observatory emphasized that this recognition includes a select group of journalists who, through their work and initiatives, have demonstrated that a free press is the true ally of victims of violations and the shield of society against authoritarianism and corruption.

It also recalled that freedom of opinion and expression, as enshrined in Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, constitutes a fundamental pillar for the protection of democratic societies and must not be restricted under any pretext.

The International Observatory for Documentation of Human Rights Violations reaffirms its commitment to continue its work in documenting abuses and defending freedom of expression, as well as honoring all those who contribute to building responsible journalism that upholds truth and human dignity, reiterating that press freedom is the conscience of the world and the voice of the oppressed everywhere.
