The International Observatory for Documentation of Human Rights Violations welcomes membership applications from individuals committed to human rights principles and willing to contribute to the protection of rights and freedoms, the documentation of violations, and the advancement of human rights work in accordance with the Observatory’s statutes and objectives.

Basic Criteria

Membership Conditions

Any person committed to human rights principles worldwide may become a member of the Observatory. To establish that the applicant possesses this commitment, the applicant must present the activities carried out to protect and advance human rights and demonstrate the ability to support the Observatory within its fields of activity.
Any individual wishing to become an individual member of the Observatory must submit a membership application directly to the Board of Directors or through the mechanism announced on the official website and must provide the Board with the required information and documents.

Curriculum Vitae An up-to-date curriculum vitae including relevant experience and activities.

Proof of Identity A copy of the national identity document or passport.

Certificates Copies of the academic or professional certificates held by the applicant.

Motivation Letter A letter explaining the applicant’s reasons for seeking membership in the Observatory. The applicant must declare acceptance of the Observatory’s statutes and objectives, readiness to cooperate with all members wherever they may be on the basis of friendship, fraternity, and mutual respect, acceptance of the Observatory’s objectives, and willingness to work toward achieving its purposes.

Admission Requirements

Membership Admission Conditions

Age	The applicant must have reached eighteen years of age. The internal text also includes, in parentheses, the wording “16 years.”
Civil Rights	The applicant must enjoy full civil rights and must not have been convicted of a felony or a dishonorable misdemeanor.
Education and Reputation	The applicant must possess an appropriate level of education and enjoy a good reputation.
Independence	The applicant must not hold a decision-making position in any political body, entity, or organization whose principles or interests conflict with the interests and objectives of the Observatory.
Institutional Commitment	Work for the benefit and interests of the Observatory and avoid conduct that may harm its reputation, damage it, or obstruct the achievement of its objectives.

Organizational Note: The internal text contains a discrepancy between the phrase “reached eighteen years of age” and the phrase “16 years.” Both references have been retained as originally stated until the final age requirement is formally adopted under the official internal regulations.

Responsibilities and Duties

Members’ Obligations

Promote the interests of the Observatory and avoid any act that may damage its reputation, harm it, or impede the achievement of its objectives at the local, regional, or international level.
Support the efforts of the Observatory’s members and participate in activities and conferences.
Comply with the Observatory’s published statutes and objectives.
Comply with decisions issued by the General Conference or the Board of Directors.
Pay the annual statutory membership fee determined by the Board of Directors.
Inform the Board of Directors of any harm or violations suffered by any member of the Observatory.

About the International Observatory

The International Observatory for Documentation of Human Rights Violations is an independent Argentine international center operating as a registered non-governmental institution dedicated to defending human rights and documenting violations around the world.

The Observatory was established on 10 December 2015 and was officially registered in the Argentine Republic in 2021. It holds temporary consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council, is a founding member of the International Organization for Human Rights and International Law, and is registered in the database of the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights.

The Observatory is headquartered in Argentina, and its members’ activities extend across 64 countries. Its team consists of individuals committed to the protection of human rights worldwide, particularly in countries where human rights defenders are exposed to severe campaigns of direct targeting.
