Certificates of Appreciation
An institutional recognition program through which the Observatory grants certificates of appreciation, honorary memberships and distinctions to individuals and institutions whose contributions have made a tangible impact in serving humanity and defending human rights and dignity.
Recognition as an Incentive to Continue Protecting People and Safeguarding Human Dignity
Based on the conviction of the International Observatory for Documentation of Human Rights Violations that the protection of human rights is a shared responsibility, and that individual and institutional efforts dedicated to defending people and safeguarding their dignity deserve recognition and acknowledgment, the Observatory has adopted an official recognition program to honor individuals and institutions that have made distinguished contributions to human rights, strengthened the values of justice, freedom and human dignity, and promoted a culture of respect for international law.
This program is founded on the conviction that recognition is not an end in itself, but a means of encouraging human rights defenders, media professionals, journalists, researchers, activists, civil society institutions and humanitarian organizations to continue their mission, while supporting initiatives that expand the space for freedom, strengthen respect for fundamental rights and liberties, and contribute to a more just, peaceful and humane environment.
The program also seeks to highlight positive examples that have made a tangible impact in defending fundamental rights, combating terrorism, extremism and hate speech, protecting women and children, supporting victims, or strengthening public awareness of human rights and the rule of law.
The Observatory has officially adopted Certificates of Appreciation models No. (004), (005) and (006). These certificates are awarded to distinguished media, journalistic, human rights and humanitarian figures whose activities, professional work, initiatives or writings have contributed to promoting a culture of human rights and advancing humanitarian values.

Media, Journalism and Public Awareness
Awarded to media professionals, journalists and researchers whose media, journalistic or research work has contributed to promoting a culture of human rights, exposing violations, strengthening public awareness, or combating terrorism, extremism and hate speech.

Defending Human Rights
Awarded to individuals and institutions that have made distinguished efforts in defending human rights, monitoring violations, supporting victims, and contributing to the advancement of justice, freedom, human dignity and the rule of law.

Protecting the Rights of Women and Children
Awarded to individuals and organizations that have played an influential role in protecting and defending the rights of women and children, and in supporting humanitarian and social initiatives aimed at strengthening the rights of vulnerable groups, safeguarding their dignity and protecting them from violations.
Honorary Membership Certificate
The Observatory grants Honorary Membership Certificates to distinguished public figures, community leaders, academics, diplomats, media professionals and partners who have provided exceptional support to the Observatory’s work, contributed to the success of its humanitarian mission, or made a tangible impact in supporting human rights causes at the national or international level.
Honorary membership is a symbolic distinction that carries no organizational or administrative obligations. It expresses the Observatory’s appreciation for the recipient’s meaningful contributions and achievements in support of human rights protection and service to humanity.
International Observatory Medal for Human Dignity
The International Observatory Medal for Human Dignity is the highest honorary distinction granted by the International Observatory for Documentation of Human Rights Violations. It is awarded to national and international figures who have made exceptional and influential contributions to serving humanity, defending fundamental rights, strengthening the values of justice, freedom and the rule of law, or achieving outstanding accomplishments in human rights, humanitarian, media, legal or diplomatic fields.
The Medal is granted in recognition of positions and actions that have made a tangible impact in protecting human dignity, supporting victims, opposing violations, strengthening the principles of peace, tolerance and coexistence, and encouraging initiatives that contribute to building societies that are more just and respectful of human rights.
The decision to award the Medal is issued by the Presidency of the Observatory following a review of the candidate’s achievements and the applicable criteria. It represents the highest level of honorary recognition conferred by the Observatory in appreciation of distinguished humanitarian and human rights contributions.
International Observatory for Documentation of Human Rights Violations
The International Observatory for Documentation of Human Rights Violations is an independent international Argentine center registered under the laws of the Argentine Republic as a non-governmental, non-profit institution. It works to defend human rights and document violations worldwide. It was established on 10 December 2015 and obtained official authorization from the Argentine government in 2021.
The Observatory holds temporary consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council, is a founding member of the International Organization for Human Rights and International Law, and is registered in the database of the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights. It is headquartered in Argentina, and the activities of its members extend to 64 countries.
The Observatory brings together a team of individuals committed to protecting human rights around the world, with particular attention to environments in which human rights defenders face the most serious forms of direct targeting.
Recognition Is a Responsibility and a Message
When we recognize those who defend people and human dignity, we do more than celebrate an individual achievement. We affirm that work for freedom, justice and human dignity deserves to be seen, appreciated and followed as an example. Through these certificates, honorary memberships and distinctions, the Observatory seeks to encourage more initiatives and positions that expand the space for freedom and contribute to a world that is more just and respectful of rights and liberties.
