The campaign against prominent human rights defender “Tarek Chindeb” is an extension of the intimidation approach against human rights defenders
The International Observatory for Documentation of Human Rights Violations strongly condemns the incitement campaign waged by some influential “political/military” parties in Lebanon, by exploiting the Lebanese judiciary to issue an arrest warrant directed to the International Interpol to prosecute prominent human rights lawyer, “Lawyer Dr. Tarek Chindeb” what was described as a crime of “slander and despraise” according to the background of his human rights activity and his prosecution of some officials involved in cases of terrorism, torture and corruption in front of the international courts.
Exploiting the Lebanese judiciary, which is supposed to be fair, just and persistent in pursuing criminals and the corrupt, and the international “Interpol” apparatus that is entrusted with international missions, as it is being used by the politicized authorities, is a disgraceful matter that loses those bodies credibility and justice.
The “Observatory” confirms that the pursuit of lawyer Dr. Tarek Chindeb comes in the context of a repressive police approach based on intimidating prominent individuals who are active in the defense of human rights, something that many human rights activists and journalists in the world have already been subjected to.
The prominent jurist “Dr. Chindeb ” has a long history in promoting the culture of human rights, protecting and defending them. He is a lawyer of appeal and a university professor of international law. He will not be left alone, and any attempt to intimidate him, including incitement, persecution, attempted illegal detention, or Moral assassination is a flagrant violation of the principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Thus, the “International Observatory for Documenting Human Rights Violations” announces its solidarity with the prominent human rights defender, Dr. Tarek Chindeb, calling on the Lebanese authorities to prevent their exploitation and to stop intimidating human rights defenders and to take immediate measures to protect them and enable them to work easily and without penalties or obstacles.
The Observatory also urges the international community to take urgent measures to ensure that the “Interpol” apparatus is not exploited to prosecute human rights defenders and journalists, which are being pursued by the politicized authorities in some countries.

(The International Observatory for Documenting Human Rights Violations), is an independent Argentine international center, registered in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Argentina, as a non-governmental, non-profit organization, working with the aim of defending human rights and documenting violations around the world. It was established on the tenth of December 2015, and obtained the license Official from the Argentine government in the year 2021. The members of the observatory cover their activities in 64 countries.
We are a team of people who are interested and believe in the protection of human rights, in all countries of the world, especially in countries where defenders are subjected to the most severe direct targeting campaigns.
